CHRISTMAS MARKET IN THE OLD TOWN

The traditional market

The medieval houses of Innsbruck’s Old Town provide the framework for what is probably the most traditional Christmas market in the city. 64 Christmas stalls form lines beneath the light-festooned Christmas tree. Scented almonds, lovingly carved nativity figures and colourful felt hats: the Christmas Market is all about folk art. With the trumpets sounding from the Golden Roof, the sense of ancient homeland can be felt all around. Stroll through the Märchengasse or enjoy a spicy mulled wine on the viewing platform.
