Innsbruck’s “New Year’s Eve in the Mountains”

The 3-day festival kicks off with a concert involving top international stars at the Marktplatz square.
Take some timeout to celebrate and get together with friends. On the Thursday, Innsbruck is the place to be!

Fri 30 Dec. 2011

1 pm – 5 pm, Old Town
Celebrate New Year’s Eve just like the grownups – as part of Children’s New Year’s Eve in Innsbruck, children can do exactly that. Heaps of fun attractions and play stations will be set up across the entire Old Town. To top it all off there will be a fire show at Marktplatz square at 5 pm.

9 pm – 1.30 am, Inner City and Old Town

Vibrant live music, culinary delights and a colourful show programme over several stages promise to enchant visitors to Innsbruck’s Old Town and inner city. On the stroke of midnight, the town welcomes 2012 with a spectacular firework display, accompanied by the Danube Waltz. Pyrotechnic effects light up the skies not only over the Seegrube Mountain, but across the town centre as well.

Innsbruck New Year’s Concert

(Public dress rehearsal: 31 Dec. 11, 10 am). The Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck welcomes the New Year under the baton of conductor Georg Fritzsch. Artistic director and chamber singer Brigitte Fassbaender guides us through the programme. She and Georg Fritzsch came up with a very special programme for the last New Year’s concert under her directorship. Only so much can be revealed though, the theme is “Strauß, Strauss…”.
