St. Nicholas Parade in Innsbruck

Accompanied by a host of angels, St. Nicholas walks from the St. Nikolaus church to the Cathedral Square (Domplatz), talking to children along the way.

St. Nicholas Parade and Krampus Run in the village centre of Igls. Saint Nicholas and a bunch of terrifying Krampus characters are at the centre of the colourful goings-on in the village square.

From 3 pm: Stalls with Tyrolean culinary specialities and mulled wine.
5 pm: St. Nicholas Parade – St. Nicholas gives out sweets to children
5.45 pm: Krampus Run – see approx. 70 Krampus (devil characters) in traditional, home-carved masks.

Igls “Christmas in the Mountains” Igls village centre Fri 23 Dec. 2012, 5.30 pm

“Christmas in the Mountains” takes place every year on 23rd December at 5.30 pm in the village centre of Igls. Carols are sung in the village square in front of the Christmas tree and Christmas crib. Then the procession begins at 6 pm. 200 angels, shepherds and animals accompany the sleigh carrying the Holy Family from the post office through the village centre and into the garden behind the tourist office. Atmospheric performances with a living Nativity scene and Christmas music with the church choir of Igls-Lans as well as brass ensembles from the Igls-Vill village band. An address from the local priest and a joint rendition of “Silent Night” bring the Igls Christmas in the Mountains to an end.
