Tyrolean State Museum – Ferdinandeum

The museum displays archaeological objects from the Stone Age to the Early Middle Ages, Roman and Gothic masterpieces, a major Dutch collection, exhibits from the Baroque and 19th century, precious instruments, the Biedermeier collection and the Modern Gallery.

Once the weapon depot of Emperor Maximilian I, today the Zeughaus is a museum of Tyrol‘s cultural history with prehistoric findings, evidence of silver mining and salt extraction, Peter Anich’s globes, objects from the beginning of tourism and both World Wars.

The museum in the former Franciscan monastery is one of the finest of its kind in Europe. The diverse exhibition sections include cribs, costumes, the “Studiensammlung” (Collection of Studies), parlours and the newly presented topics “Year Full to Bursting” and “Perilous Life”.

Grassmayr Bell Foundry

From ore to bell – a combination of bell foundry, bell museum and sound room. A visit to the 400-year-old Grassmayr Bell Foundry in Innsbruck provides a rare insight into this ancient craft. Guided tours: special tour through the bell foundry and bell museum on 07/14/21 Dec. 2011 at 3 pm.
